HARV: One of the coolest and most talented bands in the whole round world! Their CDs are fantastic and they put on a hellacious live show as well if you're lucky enough to catch 'em.
Open the DUIR: Just click this link and take it in. If it doesn't inspire you at least a little bit, you may just be about half-past-dead.
Martine Lund Hoel: The one who plays the sublime music in the film that you will see at the above link! She makes some beautiful music.
Bowed Radio: Great online radio station for ... what? BOWED MUSIC!! Hell, YEAH!! You know you gots to have some of it. GO LISTEN.
Toubab Krewe!: This is one great band. From Asheville, North Carolina. Combine righteous African kora and drums with other funkier-than-thou influences and you have Toubab Krewe. They've got their own thang goin. Check 'em out.
Robert Plant: He's one of the most powerful voices on the planet and he's one of my heroes. He has been making some damn fine music for a long long time -- and what he's doing now is no exception. Yum.

The Duhks: Righteous band out of Canada that everybody ought to hear.
Paul Brady: Only one of the most wonderful singers I ever had the pleasure of hearing.
Dan Gellert: Right. Right on.
Andy Irvine: The legendary and fabulous Andy Irvine, that is.
Hendersonville Song Company: The most fabulous spartan acoustic raw ORIGINAL unique music you will find these days. Brand spankin' new and mighty freakin' cool. Check it OUT.
The Lonesome Sisters: I fell in love with these gals when I chanced to catch them at the 2005 IBMA in NashVegas. You will fall in love with them, too. They are so incredibly great!! Their music is powerful, beautiful, moving, etc. etc. etc... You must go to this site and get a dose of Lonesome.
Boot Liquor: Internet radio station playing damn good music...
Rising Appalachia: Sisters with beautiful voices makin' Old Time music their own way. Gorgeous harmonies, fantastic banjo playing. Most exquisite.
Frank Lee: Banjo player extraordinaire. Anybody who plays gourd banjos is the bee's knees in my book. You might know Frank from that great band The Freight Hoppers. But that was a while back, and he's been up to some great music -- as would be expected from a picker of his quality... Go check out his site, I dare ya.

Fiddle Flash: Tattooed fiddles. Yes, that's right. They take a fiddle and burn all manner of groovy designs into the wood. Mighty cool. Have a gander at it.

The Forge Mountain Diggers (formerly known as The Sidewinders): With a core lineup of David Bass (fiddle), Tom Bailey (guitar), and Allison Williams (banjo) there is no way you can go wrong with this band. Top notch music!
Abigail Washburn: One beautiful gal, one beautiful voice. Banjista and singer for Uncle Earl, and solo artist in her own fabuloso right.
MAZZY STAR: Absolutely beautiful music. I love Hope Sandoval's voice.
Peter Tosh!!: If you don't know, then GO.
Rockin' Country Style: Really swell site full of old Rockabilly and all kinds of great old music. If you're a Roots Music Enthusiast, you will really dig this site.
Louisiana Folk Roots: This'd be a sad ole planet without Cajun music.
Neil Young: The one and only Neil Young -- where would we be without him? I love Neil. The "official" site doesn't do much for me, but this "unofficial" one is pretty dang great.
Gram Parsons official site: Well what more can anybody say but -- Gram Parsons. The one and the only one.
Official Bob Marley site: For all y'all with the presence of heart and mind and ear to love Bob Marley.

Dan Fogelberg: Official website of a man who has written some absolutely great songs (for instance, I'd have to say "Longer" is one of the most Beautiful love songs ever written in the history of the planet Earth.)
Alligator Records: Any place that's got Koko Taylor and Professor Longhair is good.
Steve Baughman: A delightful dude who plays guitar like a clawhammer banjo and other fantastic things...

U2: Official band site. I've loved 'em since "Boy" and ain't stopped yet.
Jimi Hendrix: The official site; The one and only Jimi does it to you in your earhole.
Little Feat: Oh, Lowell George. He wrote some of the best songs ever sung. One of my favorite singers ever.
New Riders of the Purple Sage: Completely dadgone fabulous band from the 70's... Their cover of Bob Dylan's "You Angel You" is MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE SONG IN THE WHOLE WORLD.

Joyce Andersen: Joyce is a fantastic songwriter, singer, fiddler, guitar player, human being.
Jolie Holland: Songstress extraordinaire... this gal defies description or compartmentalization. Check her out -- she's fantastic, that's all I can say.
Zane Campbell: Songwriter/singer/musician in the roots-rock-ish branch of the tree. With Ola Belle Reed's blood runnin' through his veins, this guy can't go wrong. And he doesn't!
Nikola Parov: If there ever was a dude that could make a girl wanna be a gadulka, by gawd, this is him...

Bjorgulv Straume spiller munnharpe: Dude absolutely rocks the jew's harp. Go here, click "musikk" and then click "munnharpe" to get your mind blown by a lovely and highly skilled Norwegian fellow. It's killer.

Clothesline Revival: A modern-day musical masterpiece maker! If you like old Blues, Bluegrass, mountain ballads, Hank Williams, great vocals, AND want to hear modern renditions of all that great old stuff, done with all the due respect, and with much skill and heart, you will dig this band. I love it.
David Long: David is a thrillingly superior mandolin player/singer/songwriter.

Robert Hunter's Grateful Dead lyrics: Robert Hunter is a modern-day T.S. Eliot. What a poet. I think he deserves a huge part of the credit for the greatness of the Dead.
Roots of the Grateful Dead: This is a mighty fine site providing background information about the old music that the dead used or was influenced by.
Uncle Earl: Real swell band with great pickers and singers, that's for sure.
Michael Doucet and BeauSoleil: Michael Doucet is to Cajun music what Bruce Molsky is to Old Time music. Learned his craft directly from "the old guys." He's one of my big heroes, and BeauSoleil is a helluva band.

Red Hot Jazz: One of the best websites I've ever seen, they have a zillion files of the best dang old jazz & blues stuff you might ever wanna hear.
Mike Compton: World-renowned mandolin player. I say he's the best. (So do lots of other folks.) More than just a bluegrass player; Mike puts the BLUES in Bluegrass. (He also plays a mean tenor guitar) Evan Reilly has made a Compton discography, etc. page. (Thanks, Evan!)
James Bryan: He doesn't have a website so this is the best I could do for now... James is one of the best fiddlers I ever heard.
Sheila Kay Adams: Ballad singer and banjo player, carrying on the ancient singing tradition from deep in the North Carolina mountains. She's a true American treasure.
Bessie Smith: THIS IS ONE OF THE STOUTEST CHICKS IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD!
Ola Belle Reed: Words don't do her justice. She's a music icon for good reason. I just love her, she's my singing and banjo hero, role model, inspiration. (There have been rumors of various tribute websites and official sites being constructed about her, but currently this link is a good place to start if you're interested in Ola Belle.)
Wulffenstejn Hardanger Fiddle and Mandolin Works: Bevan Wulfenstein is the luthier who found and restored the absolutely gorgeous fiddle you see above, a 1925 Joh. Lyngv�r hardingfele, after which he put it up for sale and I bought it. He sure did a great job.
Shanachie: This site is incredible, the extent and variety of their inventory is amazing. Fabulous.
Frank Proffitt, etc.: A beautiful CD of some real people singing real stuff, old recordings made by Anne and Frank Warner. From Appleseed Recordings .
County Sales: They've got some fantastic CDs and videos and stuff. Old Time and Bluegrass and reissues of old albums that you can't find just any ole place. My CD is here also...
Old Time Music: Extensive with photos and sound files, all about this music. Also where you can purchase CDs by unsigned Old Time artists. (My CD Trouble Come Knockin' is for sale here.)
The Balfa Brothers: THE BEST CAJUN MUSIC a body ever did hear. Dewey Balfa is yet another in my list of heroes, and a mighty smart dude besides being a fabulous musician.
American Music: I stumbled onto this site lookin' for the fabulous Geechie Wiley... it's a fantastic site.
CDBaby: Independent artists online CD store. Thousands of artists sell their CDs here -- one of them bein' me.
NorthSide Records: A good place in the USA to find some great Nordic music.
Mike Seeger: Well, he's Mike Seeger. All right.
Jew's Harp links: So maybe you think the Jew's Harp is just a silly toy? No sir, no way.
TVfolk.net: This amazing site has like hundreds of video files of traditional music from northern Europe. Feed your brain for hours. But you have to have QuickTime 5 or 6 to bother with it.
Annbjorg Lien: Norwegian fiddle queen. OK, she's stunningly beautiful AND she can play the hell out of a hardanger fiddle. Also plays a mean Nyckelharpa. Beautiful music, it's good for your soul!
Gjallarhorn: THE BEST BAND in the WORLD! At least they're one of my favorites. Check 'em out.
Exile on Main Street: This is my favorite album across all genres and time periods... Just as long as the guitar plays, let it STEAL YOUR HEART AWAY............
Bruce Molsky: One of the finest musicians on the planet.
Anon Egeland: This amazing Norwegian dude plays the hardanger fiddle, regular fiddle, overtone flute, and the jews harp too. His music turned my world upside down and inside out. HIGHLY recommended... Here you can check out a band he's in that makes beautiful music, too.
Hardanger Fiddle Association of America: A good start if you're curious about the hardanger fiddle.
